Flashcard Types

1. Basic Flashcards

Traditional question and answer format.

Structure:

  • Front: Question or prompt
  • Back: Answer or explanation

Best for:

  • Definitions
  • Simple facts
  • Q&A pairs
  • Translations

Example:

  • Front: "What is photosynthesis?"
  • Back: "The process by which plants convert light energy into chemical energy (glucose) using CO₂ and H₂O"

2. Cloze Deletion Cards

Fill-in-the-blank format for context-based learning.

Structure:

  • Text with one or more [...] blanks
  • Hidden word(s) revealed on flip

Best for:

  • Learning in context
  • Completing sentences
  • Formula components
  • Process steps

Example:

  • Front: "Mitosis consists of four phases: [...], metaphase, anaphase, and telophase"
  • Back: "prophase"

3. Image Occlusion Cards

Visual learning with hidden parts of diagrams.

Structure:

  • Image with specific areas hidden
  • Reveal labels or parts when studying

Best for:

Example:

  • Front: Diagram of a cell with "mitochondria" hidden

How to Use

Step 1: Select Your Subject

Choose the relevant subject:

  • Mathematics

Step 2: Choose Flashcard Type

Select the format that best suits your learning needs:

Step 3: Provide Content

For Basic and Cloze Cards

Upload a PDF:

  • Click Upload PDF
  • Select your study material
  • AI extracts relevant information

Upload a Text File:

  • Supports .txt, .md, .json
  • Click to select from device

Paste Text:

  • Paste notes or content directly
  • Up to 50,000 characters

For Image Occlusion Cards

Upload an Image:

  • Click Upload Image
  • Select diagram, chart, or map
  • Supported formats: JPG, PNG, SVG

Provide Labels:

  • List the parts to be hidden (optional)
  • AI will identify key components automatically

Step 4: Set Number of Cards

Choose how many flashcards to generate:

  • 10 cards (focused review)
  • 20 cards (standard deck)
  • 30 cards (comprehensive coverage)

Tip: Start with 10-20 cards and add more as needed.

Step 5: Customize (Optional)

Label Your Deck

Give your flashcard set a name:

  • "Chapter 5 Vocab - Spanish"
  • "Cell Biology Terms"
  • "European Capitals"

Specify Focus

Guide the AI to specific topics:

  • "Focus on key terminology"
  • "Include formulas and equations"
  • "Emphasize important dates"

Step 6: Generate Flashcards

  1. Click Generate Flashcards
  2. Wait 10-20 seconds
  3. Review your flashcard deck

Your deck includes:

  • All generated cards (front and back)

Step 7: Study and Export

Your flashcard deck is automatically saved to your account.

Importing to Other Apps

Anki:

Troubleshooting

Cards are too detailed

  • Reduce content complexity
  • Request "simple definitions only"
  • Break complex topics into multiple cards

Not enough cards generated

  • Provide more source content
  • Increase the card count
  • Be more specific with focus

Cards don't cover key topics

  • List important topics in "focus" field
  • Include those topics explicitly in content
  • Generate multiple decks for different areas

Image occlusion didn't work

  • Ensure image is clear and high-quality
  • Check that labels are visible in the image
  • Try providing a list of labels to hide
